Paul Byrd's Amazing Season

When you think of front line starting pitchers in the Millennium League, you probably might think of Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, Roy Halladay, Curt Schilling or Kerry Wood. Not too many people would think of Paul Byrd. But Byrd is proving the skeptics wrong as he is turning in a sparkling season so far for the Bronx ers: 17-6 with a 3.93 ERA. Byrd leads the league in wins and games started and has been a dependable workhouse for New York all season.

Byrd, born in Louisville, Kentucky and a LSU college grad, was the eighth player selected in the 2001 draft (http://home.comcast.net/~helmbrej/msl/2001draft.htm).
