Derek Lowe took a no-hitter into the 6th inning and center fielder Brian L.
Hunter had 3 base hits and 4 RBI at Dodger Stadium as the Boston Red Sox beat
the Los Angeles Dodgers by the count of 9 to 0.
Lowe(12-4) was on top of his game. He didn't give up much, just 1 hit and 4
walks in 9 innings. The right-handed Lowe lost his no-hit bid when Jacque
Jones singled with one out in the 6th inning. Boston managed 13 in their
victory.
The loss was charged to Mike Mussina(7-11). 'Lowe gave us exactly what we
needed tonight,' Matt Fenton said. 'When he threw the fastball he threw it
for strikes. They were really fooled by his change. Most of the time he had
them chasing it.'
