Players of the Block - Block 1

In the first installment of this season's Player of the Block awards I have changed it slightly since last year. I've included a Batter & Pitcher of the block for each league. With that, below are the highlights for block 1.

BARRY BONDS (SF) -- AL Batter of the Block
Barry leads the AL in OBP, SLG, OPS, HRs, RS, and RBI. His OPS for the block was an impressive 1.676 (an MSL record for a block). It's still early, but with his 15 home runs, he is on pace to hit 106 this season!! Barry's line: .386 BA, .547 OBP, 15 HR, 25 RBI


ERIC CHAVEZ (PIT) -- NL Batter of the Block
Eric led the NL in Home Runs and SLG. The 3B also used his gold glove to help Pittsburgh off to a quick start. Eric's line: .329 BA, .380 OBP, 9 HR, 17 RBI, 2 SB.




JAMIE MOYER (SEA) -- AL Pitcher of the Block
Jamie went 4-0 on the block, with 3 complete game shutouts! His ERA for the block a mere 0.91. Jamie's line: 4-0, 0.91 ERA, 0.76 WHIP, 39.2 IP, 32 K.




ANDY PETTITTE (NY) -- NL Pitcher of the Block
Andy led the Yankees with a 4-0 record on the block. Andy's line: 4-0, 2.61 ERA, 31 IP, 23 K.
