Moyer Fans 14 in Shutout

Seattle starter Jamie Moyer was impressive in his 2001 debut. Moyer dominated the game, giving up only 4 hits while striking out 14. He had a no-hitter going into the 6th inning. Seattle's offense gave him plenty of breathing room as he cruised to the 7-0 victory.

WEB GEMS- Top 9th: Tony Eusebio blocked the plate, saving a run!

Jamie Moyer took a no-hitter into the 6th inning and Alex Rodriguez had 4 hits
and 3 RBI as the Seattle Mariners defeated the Cleveland Indians 7 to 0 at
The Ballpark.

Rodriguez provided much of the offense. He smacked a three-run homer (his 3rd
of the season) in the 1st inning, singled in the 2nd inning, laced a base-hit
in the 4th inning and slapped a single in the 7th inning. Seattle managed 15
in their victory.

Moyer(1-0) went the distance for the shutout. The left-handed Moyer lost his
no-hit bid when Tony Eusebio singled with nobody out in the 6th inning.
Jason Johnson(1-2) was the loser. He got hit hard, allowing 13 hits and 3
walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.

Mark Riley was impressed with Moyer and his 14 strikeouts. 'It's tough to
generate runs if you can't make contact with the ball.'
