2004 Rookie Draft - Matt Holliday

As our 2003 season starts to wind down, some teams are already looking forward to next season's draft. One of the top tier rookies that will be drafted very early next year is outfielder Matt Holliday. Born 1/15/80 in Stillwater, OK, Holliday was right at home playing for the 2003 AA Tulsa Drillers. Matt spent his second straight year at Double-A where he quietly enjoyed a solid season...although he hit just .253, Matt led Tulsa with 72 RBI...he tied for the team lead with 28 doubles and his career-best 132 hits trailed only Cory Sullivan (167) on the squad...also set personal highs in games (135), extra-base hits (45) and total bases (206)...Tulsa's everyday leftfielder, Holliday ranked T2nd in the Texas League with 15 outfield assists.....
