WEB GEMS- Top 1st: Tyler Houston blocked the plate, saving a run!
Bot 4th: Alex Rodriguez robbed Damon Buford of a base hit.
Rondell White had 6 hits and 4 RBI as the Seattle Mariners defeated the San
Francisco Giants 12 to 5 at Pro Player Stadium.
White was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He laced a single in the 1st inning,
laced a base-hit in the 3rd inning, delivered a one-base hit scoring two
baserunners in the 4th inning, laced a base-knock in the 6th inning, smashed
a bases-empty 'big-fly' (his 13th of the season) in the 8th inning and lined
a base-hit bringing in a run in the 9th inning. Seattle lit up the
scoreboard in the 4th inning when they had 4 runs on 5 hits and the 9th
inning with 5 runs on 5 hits. Seattle out-hit San Francisco for the game, 20
hits to 10.
Pete Harnisch(10-6) allowed 5 runs in 6 innings, and picked up the victory.
Mike Sirotka(10-12) was the loser. He was not very effective, surrendering 5
runs in 3 and 2/3 innings.
