Tom Glavine pitched 7 strong innings as the Boston Red Sox defeated the
Arizona ballclub 3 to 0 at Pacific Bell Park.

In the top of the 2nd inning Boston went on top for good scoring a single run
on 2 hits. After an out was recorded, Rusty Greer laced a base-hit. One out
later, Einar Diaz stepped up to the plate and he doubled scoring the run.
That scoring would be all that was needed. Boston had 8 hits for the game
and Arizona had 5.

Glavine(12-10) went 7 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Glavine got
help from Derek Lowe who was credited with his 27th save. Bryan Rekar(6-6)
absorbed the loss. He allowed 5 hits and no walks in 6 innings.
