Catcher Jorge Posada had 2 base hits as the Atlanta Braves beat the Pittsburgh
Pirates by a score of 6 to 3.
Atlanta had 3 runs cross the plate in the 4th inning when they had 3 base
hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Jeff Davanon who disappointed the
partisan crowd when he doubled scoring two baserunners. Shingo Takatsu
relieved and was untouched by Pittsburgh as he recorded the save, his 3rd.
The win was credited to John Thomson(2-0) who went 5 and 1/3 innings allowing
3 runs. Matt Clement(1-1) took the loss. He pitched 6 and 1/3 innings giving
up 6 hits and 7 walks.
