In a wild and wooly game at The Ballpark, the Cleveland Indians finally topped

the Seattle Mariners by the score of 12 to 11 in.

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance

provided by Jim Thome. He tripled in the 5th inning and cracked a two-run

shot (his 57th of the season) in the 6th inning. The Cleveland offense

man-handled the Seattle pitching staff as they scored in 7 of the 9 innings.

The victory went to Rheal Cormier(10-5) who went 1 and 1/3 innings, allowing

no runs. Armando Benitez recorded the save, his 37th. Dan Miceli(3-4) was

the losing pitcher in relief. He pitched 2 and 1/3 innings and surrendered 4

hits and 1 walk.
