In a marathon game between St. Louis and Oakland, the Athletics came out on top as Aramis Ramirez hit a two-out two-run homer in the bottom of the 15th to give Oakland a 7-5 win. Oakland used seven pitchers, including Jason Schmidt for the final two innings to get the victory. Although the Cards outhit Oakland 20-13, they left 16 batters on base. |

Ramon Hernandez blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Oakland A's topped the
St. Louis Cardinals in 15 innings by a score of 7 to 5 at SAFECO Field.
The score was tied at 5 after nine. Finally, Oakland pulled the game out in
the 15th inning. Raul Ibanez led off the inning for Oakland when he slapped
a single. After another out, Carlos Lee dug into the batters box next, but
he struck out. Aramis Ramirez then cleared the fences for a two-run home run
(his 1st of the season) making Oakland victorious to the delight of the the
home town crowd. This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead
changed hands 5 times.
The win was credited to Jason Schmidt(3-0) who went 2 innings allowing no
runs. Kerry Ligtenberg(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief.
