Philadelphia (AP) - The Phillies acquired centerfielder Andruw Jones from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for their 2006 Round 1 draft pick. Entering this season, Jones had played 772 games for the Braves and had a .266 career average with a 172 homers (15th on the all-time list). However, Jones was hitting just .189 with 6 homers through May 11th of this season.
The Phillies have a history of trading their future season #1 round draft picks away to acquire players. Last season, the Fightin' Phils acquired Jim Thome from the Indians for their top pick. And, two seasons ago, Greg Maddux from the Braves was acquired for the Phils' #1 rounder.
