Royals To Make First World Series Appearance


Kansas City (AP) - Paul Byrd won two games and Michael Young had nine hits in the series as the surprising Kansas City Royals eliminated the #1 seed Cleveland Indians in six games. This is the Royals first appearance in post season play and they are certainly taking advantage of their opportunity. A recap of their series:

Game 1 - Indians 9-5 - Jason Bay goes 4 for 4, Manny Ramirez hits 3-run homer

Game 2 - Indians 3-1 - Bartolo Colon pitches seven sparkling innings

Game 3 - Royals 6-5 - Series moves to Kaufmann Stadium and the Royals hang on for the win; Huston Street pitches 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief for his 4th post season save

Game 4 - Royals 4-2 - The combo of Danny Haren, BJ Ryan and Huston Street shut down the Tribe attack

Game 5 - Royals 3-2 - Brady Clark hit a bases loaded game winning RBI single in the bottom of the ninth for the game winner

Game 6 - Royals 9-4 - Paul Byrd closes out the series with 6 shutout innings as Kansas City rolls
