Woody Williams just missed a no-hitter by firing a one-hitter against the White Sox. Only hit was a clean single off the bat of Konerko. |

Toby Hall blasted a homerun and had 2 RBI and Woody Williams carried a
no-hitter into the 8th inning as the St. Louis Cardinals outscored the
Chicago White Sox 6 to 0.
Williams(3-2) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Chicago offense. He
didn't allow much, just 1 hit and no walks in 9 innings. The right-handed
Williams lost his no-hit bid when Paul Konerko singled with nobody out in the
8th inning. The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither team was
able to score again.
The loss was charged to Willis Roberts(0-1). He got hit pretty hard, allowing
7 hits and 3 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.
