Juan Rincon(7-1) shut down the Houston Astros hitters at Fenway Park in 10
innings. The Florida Marlins came away with a 1 to 0 victory.
No runners had crossed home plate after the regulation nine. Florida came out
on top in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Mike Lowell tripled.
Rocco Baldelli was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. Brian Schneider
then delivered a base-hit resulting in an exciting win for Florida and a wild
post-game celebration by the home town fans. Florida and Houston each
finished the night with 5 hits.
The loss was charged to Octavio Dotel(5-7) in relief. He pitched 1 and 1/3
innings and surrendered 2 hits and no walks.
