The New York Yankees, an almost certainty to make this season's playoffs, made a bold trade to pick up two quality arms. The Bronx Bombers traded away pitcher Andy Ashby (4-0, 3.19 ERA), infielder Damian Rolls (.226, 0 HR 7 RBI), and their 2003 #1 and #4 picks to the White Sox for pitchers David Wells (4-5, 3.95 ERA), Keith Foulke (4.68, 17 Saves) and infielder Lou Merloni. New York now has a starting rotation that includes: Wells, Clemens, Byrd, Pettite, and Valdes.
The White Sox, 4th place in the Aaron division, is already looking ahead to next season and has been busy acquiring draft picks.
