Fish' Castillo Heading Toward 1st Batting Crown


Marlins second basemen has had a breakout season. He currently is hitting .344 and leads the league in batting average with a 16 point lead over Michael Young of Kansas City. Castillo has played all five previous Millennium seasons with Florida and is a .298 lifetime hitter.

Red Sox Clinch Division


Boston (AP) - The Red Sox are back in the playoff picture after missing the postseason the past two seasons. Manager Matt Fenton has guided his Boston club to a strong 92-58 mark so far this season. Backed by powerful pitching (league leading team ERA 3.59), the Red Sox look to be a tough team in the playoffs. . . . . .

Marlins' Lowry Fires Perfect Game


Florida (AP) - History was made in San Francisco as Noah Lowry thrilled the crowd by tossing a perfect game as the Florida Marlins defeated the San Francisco Giants by the score of 3 to 0.

In his second season with Florida, Lowry has posted a 14-7 record with a 3.27 ERA. Lowry was the 35th player selected in the 2004 Draft.
